Final Project

The idea I have for this final project is doing a series of 3 photoshop posters. I will be using glitch, layers and composition. I will also be incorporating  “stolen art works”' and meshing them together. I will be using photoshop to really show that anything can be new but nothing is original. What really inspired me to do this is a book called Steal Like An Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon. He states that “What a good artist understands is that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original.” My intention is to really show people that anyone can be an artist. I am really excited to see what I can create.

  1. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this idea, Anna, and it's also nice to see that you are using an outside resource for inspiration. The latter exemplifies what this assignment is good for—to get us out of the semester mindset and into the future uses and applications for our work. One detail that I would warn against is the openness of the project. Openness can be a blessing and a curse because, while it gets us brainstorming divergently, the final project can be left too loose and without teeth. Try to rein in the content of the three posters and consider the ways in which your technical manipulations are responses to—commentary on—the original content. Looking forward!
